#11- War : A Blot on Humanity

On 24th February Vladimir Putin , the President of Russia shattered the peace in Europe by unleashing war on a democracy of 44 million people, his justification was that modern, Western-leaning Ukraine was a constant threat and Russia could not feel "safe, develop and exist".

It's over a month now and yet there is no end to the Russia-Ukraine War .The latest updates state that , after failing to take over the whole country, Russia is now trying to split Ukraine in two to create a Moscow-controlled region, as informed by the  head of Ukrainian military intelligence. The UN refugee agency UNHCR says 3,821,049 Ukrainians have fled the country – an increase of 48,450 from the previous days. Also Hollywood A-listers held a moment of silence at Sunday’s Oscars gala in support of the people of Ukraine.

But the main question is:

DO WARS EVER SOLVE THE PROBLEMS BETWEEN NATIONS?

Wars occur when countries fail to solve an issue through diplomatic or economic arrangements. But Killing innocent people in the name of nationalism is unmoral. War destroys communities and families and disrupts the development of a nation. The effects of war include long-term physical and psychological harm to children and adults. No government has the right to commit a mass murder for the greed of land or peace. Conflicts should be resolved between nations through diplomacy. In this nuclear age, the cost of war writ casualties can take the form of huge chunks of population being wiped out, radioactive uninhabitable landmasses and destruction of infrastructure to the extent where recovery may take more than 50 years. “ It’s like living in a horror movie,” said Ludmila Ivchenko, 64, a victim of the Russia-Ukraine war .The best a war can do is to destroy two nations beyond immediate recovery. No country, no conflict. And that's not a feasible solution.

"War is never a lasting solution to any problem"- Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. This statement is definitely true and tells us that war is the enemy of all humanity and human civilisation and Nothing good can be achieved out of it.On the whole, war has always been the greatest blot on humanity. It was created by man himself but now it is beyond control of all human forces.
