Makeup has been around for many centuries that date back to 3500 BC rooting from the Ancient Egyptian and Sumerian tombs.  It has inspired the world in many ways such as starting cosmetic schools and conventions. Makeup lets individuals express their artistic side to create beautiful flawless looks. There are many products and different brands that make people fall in love with the beauty of make up. It has become a passion and a work of art.

The global cosmetics market size was valued at $380.2 billion in 2019, and is projected to reach $463.5 billion by 2027, registering a CAGR of 5.3% from 2021 to 2027. Presently, cosmetics have become an indispensable feature of modern lifestyle of individuals.

The makeup world has also created conventions such as IMATS, an international makeup artist trade show. IMATS holds many conventions in Sydney, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver and London.  This convection lets on lookers meet with experienced make up artists to get a better understanding of the field and let them expand network opportunities with makeup artist that have worked with fashion, film, TV and red carpet events. 

The concept of makeup  is  wrongly viewed to society in negative ways, stereotypes play a big role in this for example “Women wear to much make up.” “Women only wear make up because they’re insecure.” In today's world makeup is not limited just to women .Over the last few years men  have built themselves a platform all over the media showing off their extraordinary talent and creative makeup looks. Jeffree Star reminds us that, "It takes a lot of guts to put on a face full of makeup, being a male in the world where a lot of people still think that cosmetics are only for women." James Charles is undoubtedly the most talented and successful makeup artist famous for his intriguing and inspiring looks like 'black canvas' .Furthermore, it has lead young teens and aspiring makeup artists to create their own make up tutorials on YouTube or make up blogs.

Make up is used all over the world for different practices and in different cultures. It is used in an everyday life and can be seen in almost all aspects of social interaction.  It has created a place where people of interest can be in the work field of make up.  Even though in today’s society individuals are being judged by their beauty and the use of make up products; society may not notice or understand the confidence, happiness, and passion it has brought to others.
